A 47-year-old man, unknown to the police, was arrested on Friday by the BAC (anti-crime brigade) of Béziers.

After stopping the vehicle to report it, the police discovered a baseball bat under the driver's seat and a strong characteristic odor.

The search of the vehicle by investigators from the anti-narcotics unit revealed the presence of 1 kg of cannabis and 66 g of cocaine.

He was also in possession of 1,610 euros.

“The search of his home led to the discovery of 12,750 euros in cash as well as an additional 205.5 g of cocaine”, evokes the public prosecutor Raphaël Balland.

In police custody, he would have disputed engaging in any resale.

He allegedly claimed to have narcotics and money for the benefit of a person he said he only knew by nickname, in return for his personal consumption.

Judged in direct appearance before the criminal court

While he declared himself to be an unemployment benefit, bank investigations revealed more than 11,000 euros in his account, which were seized.

He was placed in pre-trial detention until his trial in immediate appearance before the criminal court of Béziers, on January 19.

He will have to answer for the charges of transport, possession, offer or transfer and illicit use of narcotics.

He faces up to ten years in prison.
