The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which will start on the 4th of next month, have decided not to sell tickets to the general public due to concerns about the coronavirus.

Reuters reported today (17th) that the Beijing Olympic organizing committee announced in a statement that due to Corona 19, tickets were distributed to 'specific groups' and not sold to the general public.

"Considering the critical and complex situation of the current COVID-19 pandemic, in order to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators, it has been decided that tickets should no longer be sold and will be invited to a specific group of spectators according to an appropriate program," the organizing committee explained. .

"These spectators are expected to strictly abide by the Corona 19 quarantine policy before, after and during each match," he added.

The organizing committee, however, did not provide details on how the tickets will be distributed.

The Olympic Games, to be held in Beijing and surrounding areas, will be held within a 'closed ring' that separates athletes and officials from the general public.

Most players arrive in Beijing by charter flight.

Earlier, in September last year, the organizing committee decided not to allow overseas audiences to watch the Olympics in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
