The Russians were warned about the increasing cases of fraud with accounts on the public services portal.

The site administration sent notifications to users with tips on protecting their account.

One of the recommendations emphasizes that data from SMS messages received from the portal cannot be transferred to third parties.

“Do not tell the code from SMS to anyone.

Gosuslug employees never ask for such information,” the report says.

It is also recommended to use additional ways to protect personal data: set up a security question and enable account login with SMS confirmation.

On the eve of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of the Russian Federation published a material in which it explained the actions of fraudsters using the theme of QR codes to take over user accounts on the State Services.

As clarified in the department, attackers use similar schemes to gain access to online banks.

“Scammers initiate a password recovery to a user's account over the phone in order to steal his account.

To do this, when entering the account, they enter the victim’s phone number, after which they call the user and ask him to dictate the code received in SMS, ”the ministry explained.

After receiving the code, the attackers generate a new password, and the real user is deprived of access to the account.

In this scheme, the QR code is just an excuse to call, since it is the hottest topic right now.

The department clarified that the Gosuslug support service has already developed enhanced protection for user accounts.

So, before sending an SMS to the user to change the password, the portal requests a code, and then additional information, including SNILS, TIN, passport series and number.

It is noted that this information is requested by the system, and not by the employee.

Publications about fraud schemes against users of "Gosuslug" previously appeared in the media.

The newspaper "Kommersant" posted an article that said that phone scammers use the theme of QR codes in order to gain access to the personal account of citizens, and then use the obtained data to apply for loans.

Recall that the portal "Gosuslugi" began its work in December 2009.

The service performs reference and information functions and provides citizens with access to state and municipal services in Russia.

Expansion of the list of services at "Gosuslugi"

In 2022, the functionality of this portal will be expanded.

As the head of the Russian government Mikhail Mishustin announced on December 20, more than 100 regional services intended for citizens and businesses will appear on the site.

We are talking about the appointment of certain benefits for children, technical inspection of a number of types of equipment, the receipt of tax returns, registration of rights to real estate and a number of other services.

Mishustin recalled that previously such services were available only on the online platforms of Russian subjects and the websites of relevant departments, or were not provided at all in electronic format.

The regions will also be able to place additional services on a single portal, in particular, for processing applications for social services, providing free housing and coordinating redevelopment in an apartment.

As Mishustin explained, the innovations are aimed at creating a convenient digital environment that will make it possible to issue almost all significant services in electronic format.

The head of government noted that this is one of the tasks that must be solved in order to achieve the national development goals set by the president.

During his address to the Federal Assembly in April 2021, Vladimir Putin said that in 2022 most public services should be provided remotely.

In his message, the head of state stated the need to "implement the principles of social treasury."

“This means that all federal benefits, pensions, other social allowances, services will be issued and paid in the “one stop shop” mode, without running around the authorities, but simply upon the fact of creating a family, having a child, retiring or other life situation” , the President said.

“In three years, the absolute majority of state and municipal services should be provided to Russian citizens remotely, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, that is, on an ongoing basis,” Putin stressed.
