Military forces were seen patrolling the streets of Visby on Friday morning and later on Friday evening, several soldiers and military vehicles arrived on the Gotland ferry.

Soldiers have also been sent to Oskarshamn.

- That's right.

We are in the places where we deem it necessary, says Therese Fagerstedt, press secretary at the Swedish Armed Forces to SVT.

Will be more visible

According to the Swedish Armed Forces, the increased efforts are part of the "contingency adjustment" that is currently underway due to the security policy situation.

The Armed Forces does not want to comment on how many resources have been relocated, but it is confirmed that adjustments are underway in several parts of the country.

That the defense has changed its resources will be visible in the future, says Therese Fagerstedt.

- Yes, you will see it.

I can not give any details about how, but we will have reason to return to it, she tells SVT.

The background to the relocations is the tense security policy situation.

- That the Armed Forces would only look at the current situation would have been closer to misconduct.

Not a reinforcement

She emphasizes that this is not a redistribution and not a strengthening of the country's military forces.

- The operations manager has decided to distribute resources to the places where they make the best effect and most useful.

It is not about heightened preparedness.

Does that mean that you have weakened the defense in other places?

- You should definitely not see it that way.

We have resources in most of the country and even if we strengthen in some places, it does not necessarily mean that we increase vulnerability in other places.
