The County Administrative Board and the company fiskdata.se annually install cameras in various streams in the county.

The purpose is to gain knowledge about how life under the surface develops.

- Many people are surprised at how much fish migrate in things that people classify as ditches or small streams that dry up in the summer.

But it's not just in Alaska that fish migrate and jump.

It also happens in almost every stream in the county, even though it is not always fine trout, says Daniel Bergdahl, water management officer at the County Administrative Board in Örebro County.

Fewer trout than expected

The result from the filming in Brunnshyttebäcken, however, surprises the experts at the county administrative board in the negative direction.

- In previous years, significantly more trout have entered this stream.

It is unclear if last year was a weak year or if it is a trend, this was just a sample, says Daniel Bergdahl.

However, the films revealed a real swimmer, an eight-kilo trout that was over a meter long.

But such large trout are no longer commonplace.

- They are eradicated by human intervention, usually due to migration obstacles.

This is what the camera device and the brook look like from land.

The observations can be valuable

In the past, trout were common in the lakes around Hällefors, especially in Brunnshyttebäcken.

But the county administrative board fears that they have become more rare as a result of the hydropower plants.

In a year or so, the permits for all Swedish hydropower will be reconsidered in court and then the information from the county administrative board's camera can be valuable, says Daniel Bergdahl.

- This small rubble in this stream is extremely important for the trials of the hydropower plants.

After the reconsiderations, our goal is for these trout to spread to several of the lakes in Hällefors.
