In September 2020, shortly after revelations from Mediapart, Gilles Huberson was recalled to Paris due to the conclusions of an internal investigation carried out at the French Embassy in Côte d'Ivoire by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, targeting him personally.

The news site revealed that Gilles Huberson was

accused, by at least five women, of gender-based and sexual violence

.

Facts that would have taken place in Mali where the diplomat was ambassador from 2013 to 2016, then in Côte d'Ivoire.

The ministry finally retained the stories of two women to conclude, on November 15, that the diplomat "

engaged in acts constituting sexual harassment

[...]

against two young women placed under his authority »

.

The diplomat "

has, towards them and repeatedly, adopted behavior and made comments with a sexual connotation, persisting in this attitude, despite their explicit refusals

", also details an internal decree consulted by Mediapart.

A little over a year after his recall, the sanction fell for the 61-year-old former gendarme: automatic retirement by disciplinary measure.

If the victims could be heard in this case, it is thanks to a helpline called "

T

OLERANCE Zero

", reserved for personal Quai d'Orsay, victims of gender and sexual violence, set up in 2018.

Gilles Huberson appealed this decision before the Council of State.
