For a family with children in detached houses, housing alone can be SEK 1,400 more expensive in the month of 2022 compared with 2021. The increase in costs is mainly due to increased heating costs and interest costs.

- Many will find it difficult to get the economy to go together in 2022, says Arturo Arques, private economist at Swedbank and the savings banks who have calculated how increased inflation can affect Swedish households.

But there is a lot you can do yourself to keep costs down.

- An important item is electricity prices, so make sure to be a little energy-smart: Lower the temperature indoors and do not shower for that long, Arturo Arques suggests.

Two other areas where you can influence a lot yourself are food and fuel - for example, you can park the car whenever possible and plan your food purchases.

- Make a shopping list at home and stick to it in the store.

Retail is very good at getting us to shop more than we need, says Arturo Arques.

In the video, you see how the costs are estimated to increase for three different households - single people in tenancies, couples in condominiums and families with children in detached houses.
