It's called having flair.
On the run and wanted for twenty years "for important facts of drug trafficking", according to the prosecutor of Besançon Etienne Manteaux, the brother of Sofiane Hambli, one of the biggest French drug traffickers, was arrested completely by chance at the beginning of January during a customs check in the Doubs, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The individual presented false Swiss identity documents.
He then refused to give his real identity, but the dissemination of his photograph allowed French investigators to recognize him as the brother of Sofiane Hambli, said the same source.
His brother was arrested in October
The 43-year-old suspect was remanded in custody and the Besançon prosecutor's office opened a judicial investigation for "possession of false administrative documents".
The Mulhouse public prosecutor's office will soon notify him of his arrest warrant.
He may accept the judgment or oppose and be retried
His brother Sofiane Hambli (46) is considered the drug lord in France.
Originally from Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin), he was arrested in October after several months on the run, in a clinic in Tangier (Morocco) where he had been admitted after being attacked in the streets of the city.
