Before fleeing to Turkey, the founder of the Brotherhood's "Hasm" was in the grip of Egypt

In a blow to terrorist groups, the Egyptian authorities arrested Hossam Menoufy, a prominent leader and one of the founders of the "Hasm" movement, the armed arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, before he fled to Turkey from Sudan, according to Brotherhood websites announced yesterday evening (Thursday).

According to the information, Menoufi was arrested after the plane carrying him made an emergency landing at Luxor International Airport after there was a fire alarm inside, which prompted the pilot to request the landing after taking off from Khartoum Airport.

The circulated version, which Cairo has not officially confirmed, says that after the Sudanese plane landed at Luxor Airport, Menoufy was arrested before he fled to Turkey, where the Brotherhood leaders fleeing Egypt after their rule were overthrown in 2013.

An organization called “We are recording” and which defines itself as a “human rights defender” said that it had documented the arrest of Menoufi during an emergency landing of the Sudanese Badr Airlines plane at Luxor Airport.

And she added, in a statement, that he was arrested by the Sudanese authorities at Khartoum Airport (Wednesday), but they allowed him to resume his flight to Turkey via the Badr Airlines flight from Khartoum to Istanbul.

The Sudanese Badr Air Company issued a statement that did not address the arrest of the Brotherhood leader, and there was no comment from the Egyptian side on what was circulated about the arrest of Menoufi, whose movement is accused of committing terrorist acts against security forces and civilians.
