His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stressed that infrastructure projects are among the main pillars of the comprehensive development process in Dubai, and that they are among the priorities that the government of the emirate attaches great importance to, in light of the impact of these projects on Supporting comprehensive and sustainable development trends, advancing economic development, meeting the requirements of society, and providing it with the best services.

His Highness said: "The road and transport sector is a vital sector that supports economic growth and social welfare, and we continue to advance it, and our investments in it have exceeded 140 billion dirhams over the past 15 years.. This came during the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the new (Infinity) bridge, which is being built Near the Shindagha Tunnel in Dubai, where they were received at the bridge site by Mattar Muhammad Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority.

The visit comes within the framework of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's keenness to follow up on the implementation of infrastructure projects that Dubai continues to invest in, in order to serve comprehensive development trends, and keep pace with the steady urban expansion, in light of the strong rates of economic and development development witnessed by the emirate. On the progress achieved in the strategic goal set by His Highness to make Dubai the best city to live, work and visit in the world.

At the beginning of the tour, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum listened to an explanation from Mattar Al Tayer about the ongoing development in the implementation of infrastructure projects in Dubai, especially in the road and transport sector, according to urban development plans in the city. It was completed during the last period and accompanied the rapid development of Dubai as a major economic center in the region, most notably: Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, Business Bay Crossing, road projects leading to the "Expo", the expansion of Al Khail Street and Al Khawaneej axis, and other projects, while work is in progress. It is currently completing the development of the Shindagha axis, as well as the development of the Dubai - Al Ain Road, and the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed axis.

His Highness was briefed on the details of the projects of the Shindagha axis, and the new "Infinity" bridge, which is the latest addition to this vital axis, and the bridge's unique artistic design, inspired by the "infinity" sign, as the design reflects Dubai's ambitions that know no limits and no end.

Al Tayer explained that the current part of the Shindagha Corridor project, whose total cost is estimated at five billion and 300 million dirhams, includes the development of 15 intersections with a length of 13 kilometers, and due to its largeness, it has been divided into five phases, and the completion rate in the entire project is 85%, and it is expected to be completed. It is in the second half of this year.

The axis serves the areas of Deira and Bur Dubai, and a number of development projects, such as: Deira Islands, Dubai Waterfront, Dubai Maritime City, and Port Rashid. The estimated population of the project is one million people.

The development of the hub will reduce flight time from 104 minutes to 16 minutes by 2030.

The value of the savings from reducing flight time is estimated at 45 billion dirhams over 20 years.

The Infinity Bridge meets the requirements of growth and contributes to strengthening the connection between the areas of Deira and Bur Dubai, with a capacity of six lanes in each direction, in addition to a joint pedestrian and bicycle path, bringing the total number of lanes on the Dubai Creek from 48 lanes to 60 lanes.

The new bridge has a capacity of 24,000 vehicles per hour, in both directions.

The Shindagha axis is one of the most important strategic projects implemented by the Roads and Transport Authority, and it includes 11 phases. Its implementation began in 2016, and work in all its phases will be completed in 2027, according to the urban development in the region.

There are currently two circular roads in the city, which contribute to facilitating traffic and supporting economic activity. The first is an external road, which represents the extension of Sheikh Rashid Street passing through Al Mina Street, then Al Khaleej Street, Cairo Street, and Al Ittihad Street, and the second is an internal road, representing the extension of Sheikh Rashid Street passing through Al Mina Street. Then Al Khaleej Street, Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Street, and Umm Hurair Street.

The future plans of the Shindagha Corridor project include the implementation of the Gulf Street development project, the intersection of Al Khaleej Street with Abu Hail Street, and the development of the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street. This phase is expected to be completed at the end of 2025.

The plan also includes the implementation of bridges leading to the Deira Islands from the south. The length of the bridges is estimated at 1.5 km, and this phase is expected to be completed in 2027.
