There are just over 160 electricity network companies in Sweden.

Their task is to be responsible for the transport of electricity.

Which electricity network company you pay a fee to depends on where you live.

You can choose which player you want to buy the product itself from.

Since 2018, the electricity tax has been on the electricity network invoice.

This is one of the reasons why the electricity network companies have been singled out as suitable for handling the compensation to be paid to the households affected by high electricity prices during the winter, according to the Government's proposal on electricity price support.

Flash-called meeting

Two hours after the press conference where the government presented the proposal, Minister of Energy and Digitization Khashayar Farmanbar (S) held a meeting with the Swedish electricity network companies.

The purpose was to discuss the design of electricity price support.

Henrik Bergström is head of social policy at the electricity network company Ellevio, which has approximately one million customers and together with Vattenfall and Eon is one of the largest electricity network companies in Sweden.

He was one of the representatives present at the meeting.

- It was a good discussion with the Minister and the State Secretary, says Henrik Bergström.

Several possible models

During the meeting, some possible models for the practical implementation of electricity price support were presented.

But much is still unclear.

- Based on the various alternatives presented, there are one billion questions, says Henrik Bergström.

According to him, the electricity network companies' representatives mainly asked questions about how everything should go technically.

- There is a lot of households and a lot of money to be paid out, so it is clear that it is a complicated process, says Bergström.

Payment is delayed

Many companies also wonder when a decision can be expected.

At the meeting, Henrik Bergström got the feeling that the government wants as simple and quick a solution as possible.

The less legislation that is required, the faster it can go, points out Bergström, who believes that it will characterize the final model.

Vattenfall and Eon also attended the meeting with the Minister of Energy.

"We have been informed that the proposal will be clarified in the coming weeks.

We are now awaiting further information from the government ", writes Vattenfall in a comment to SVT.

At Eon, there is no concern that the administration will become cumbersome.

- The government will get back to how it is to be administered, we will find forms for it, says Lena Berglund at Eon's press office.

However, electricity customers can not expect any money in hand within the next few months, according to the Minister of Energy.

The proposal is far from complete.

More meetings between the electricity network industry and government representatives are to be expected in the future, according to Henrik Bergström.
