Since Roman times, thermal waters have been used in Hungary to achieve their medicinal benefits throughout the ages, and bath complexes were built around these natural lakes.

Budapest alone is famous for its 118 borehole springs and wells that produce 30,000 cubic meters per day of mineral and hot water at temperatures ranging between 21 and 76 degrees Celsius, feeding 24 hot mineral baths and a physiotherapy bath.
