Criminal to throw less rubbish - Police in Norsjö: "Other things we prioritize higher"

From the first of January this year, the law on littering was tightened and nowadays it is a criminal offense to throw away smaller rubbish such as chewing gum, fimpa and snus.

The police can issue a fine of SEK 800 for less littering.

 - That's really good.

I think it looks terrible on streets and parking lots, says Anita Boman from Malå.

"Gets serious"

Kristina Sköldqvist from Norsjö believes that the stricter littering law can have a positive effect.

- When you have a team, it becomes more serious and people sharpen up, she says. 

Have you littered yourself with chewing gum or something else?

- I have probably spat out a chewing gum at some point, but now I will have a napkin in my pocket, says Kristina Sköldqvist.
