The proportion of infection with the new omicron coronavirus strain in Russia is currently quite large, and a slight increase in the incidence of COVID-19 is possible. This was stated by the head of the scientific group for the development of new diagnostic methods based on sequencing technologies of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor Kamil Khafizov.
“Now the share of omicron is quite large, and in the near future, I suspect, we will see a slight increase in the incidence in the country,” he said on the air of the Russia 24 channel.
Khafizov added that not only imported cases of omicron disease are being detected in Russia.
Earlier it became known that 305 cases of omicron infection were registered in Russia.
