Mainz Carnival: Fool's Hall March, but only online

Carnival cannot be canceled!

Just like Christmas and Easter, which also have their fixed place in the calendar.

At least that is the credo of the Carnivalists in Mainz.

Nevertheless, the friends of foolishness in the Rhine-Main area “because of Omikron” have to rebuild their program for the fifth season again.

There will probably be no moves anywhere on these great days.

And most of the clubs have also abandoned the idea of holding meetings in the hall under 2-G conditions.

The only thing left is the network as a corona-compliant Narrhalla, which will also be used in Mainz in 2022 in a four-color way: whether for the foolish wine tasting of the Princess Guard, an "online standing" announced for February 5th by the Gonsenheim Carneval Association or the “Drecksack-Stream 2022” of the “annern Meenzer Fassenachter”. In real life - and seven times - at least the carnival bogus "The funny women 2.0 or now is being moved together!" Can be experienced in the State Theater. In addition, the Fastnachter are betting that the ZDF will enable the television session "Mainz remains Mainz". What the SWR colleagues succeeded in doing a year ago despite the pandemic. Because the then 75-year-old state is planning the "Rhineland-Palatinate Day" in Mainz on the penultimate weekend in May,there is still hope for the carnival, which has been deprived of their Rose Monday parade, that they may be able to march in a 2022 parade after all.

Big receptions: employees celebrate, employers cancel

The trade unionists have to get used to a little this year: When the German Trade Union Federation invites you to the New Year's reception this Saturday, only around 150 guests will be allowed into the union building this time, the corona mask must also be worn while sitting, instead of coming from the workers' choir the music from the piano, and afterwards there is no traditional soup with sausages either.

But at least the traditional start of the year by the Frankfurt DGB can at least take place this time. The two large business representations in the region, the Chamber of Crafts and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK), both had to cancel their major events for the beginning of the year. This also applies to the New Year's reception in the city of Frankfurt. The IHK will probably catch up with its event at a later point in time.

Normally, the IHK welcomes up to 2000 guests in its building on Börsenplatz, who were able to evaluate the lectures of politicians and guest speakers at the large buffet or at the currywurst cart until the early hours of the morning.

Once again this year the Chamber of Crafts will not be able to receive its new master craftsmen in the Paulskirche, in earlier years even the Federal President came.

For a short time the Alte Oper had been examined as an alternative location, but in view of the increasing incidence with several hundred participants that would no longer have been possible.

An alternative date is not fixed yet.
