Cypriot scientists have announced the identification of a hybrid strain of coronavirus "deltacron"

This was stated by the head of the laboratory Leontios Kostrikis, writes the Cyprus Mail.

He said that this variant has a genetic basis like the delta coronavirus strain, but a number of its mutations are the same as that of the omicron.

Kostrikis also said that this hybrid strain was identified in 25 samples taken in Cyprus.

At the same time, 11 samples were taken from patients hospitalized with coronavirus, another 14 samples were taken from other local residents.

Earlier it was reported that a new type of coronavirus with 46 mutations was found in the south of France among travelers returning from Cameroon.

Rospotrebnadzor noted that the coronavirus strain detected in France was not detected in Russia.
