Park Geun-hye is released from prison and turned into a best-selling author: new book is popular among elderly men and South Korea's No. 1 sales

Overseas Network, January 7th. After the former South Korean President Park Geun-hye was released from prison, he became a hit writer.

His new book "Isn't Missing Everyone" was popular and became the most popular book in many bookstores in Korea.

According to Korean media, a quarter of the readers are elderly men over 60.

According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea’s largest bookstore Kyobo Bunku released data on the 6th, showing that Park Geun-hye’s new book became the sales champion in the first week of the new year.

Not only that, the book also topped the weekly sales list of the online bookstore "Yes24".

Currently, the book is priced at 13,500 won, or about 72 yuan.

Among the readers of the book, elderly people over 60 accounted for the highest proportion.

Specifically, more than a quarter (25.7%) are men over 60 years old, 10.5% are women over 60 years old, and the two together account for 36.2%.

"I'm Not Missing Everyone" was published on the afternoon of December 30, 2021. A few hours later, Park Geun-hye was pardoned and released from prison, officially ending 4 years and 9 months in prison.

The book records the letters that Park Geun-hye received from supporters and the content of his own reply during his prison time. The inspiration for the title of the book also came from letters from supporters.

A lawyer recently revealed that Park Geun-hye received 80,000 letters from fans in prison, and she personally requested that they be printed into books.

Park Geun-hye wrote in the preface that when he was president, he was in a state of continuous tension at all times.

I don't even know how the time spent working for the people passed.

Looking back on the past, she feels distressed.

"Because of the deviant behaviors of the people around me I once trusted, everything I did was branded with fraud. I feel very sad about this."

She mentioned her current mood and thought that she should let go of her resentment and grievances.

"Lies can temporarily blind people's eyes and ears to deceive the world, but I believe that with the passage of time, the truth will be revealed."

Park Geun-hye also wrote that she "never worked for others out of selfish intentions", "Although I let everyone down, because some people send me warm and loving letters, I can hold on till now."

Park Geun-hye is not expected to be discharged from the hospital until February this year due to poor health.

When she was released, 500 wreaths were piled up outside the hospital, and a large number of supporters gathered. They set off firecrackers, waved Tai Chi flags and cheered cheers. Many people burst into tears, but Park Geun-hye never showed up.
