Wilguens Louissant and Amady John Wesley had gone to Laboule 12, in the heart of the mountain overlooking Port-au-Prince to report on the "

security climate in the area

", said Radio Ecoute FM, the Canadian online media which employed Amady John Wesley. An insecurity of which they were ultimately directly victims: they were killed in a shootout. The third journalist who accompanied them was able to avoid the shootings of the gangs and escape thanks to the help of local residents.

The rather rural area has become the scene of clashes between armed gangs in recent weeks because the path, in poor condition, which crosses it has become highly strategic to get to the south of Haiti.

For all those who do not want to risk taking the national road which crosses the district of Martissant, totally controlled by the gangs, the road of Laboule 12 was an alternative.

The gangs sensed the potential and so they compete today for control.
