Neither politicians nor the petroleum industry want or can explain why the HVO100 diesel suddenly became four kronor more expensive overnight.

Reason increased the duty to reduce

The petroleum industry tells SVT Nyheter Norrbotten that the reason why it is becoming more expensive is the increased reduction obligation, the demand for more involvement of renewable fuels in diesel and petrol.

But they can not explain the 20% increase overnight.

Nor can the environmental party in Gällivare, Henrik Ölvebo, who sat on the party board, explain the price shock.

- There are no tax changes or political decisions that justify the increase of four kronor, I can not explain exactly why it was increased so much, says Henrik Ölvebo (MP).

SEK 10,000 more expensive for Tommy

Although many want to be environmentally friendly, the question is, what does it cost?

Is it worth paying just over SEK 24 per liter for environmentally friendly HVO100 when traditional diesel is four kroner cheaper?

- I drive 3,000 km every year, so with these prices it would be over 10,000 kronor more expensive per year to drive environmental diesel than regular diesel, so it is too expensive, says Tommy Rauhala in Kiruna.

Then the price will be pushed down

HVO100 is made from renewable raw materials in the form of waste and residual products from, for example, slaughterhouses, food production and ethanol production.

According to the petroleum industry, HVO100 can contribute to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions compared to fossil diesel and can thus reduce the climate impact compared to driving on ordinary diesel.

- Environmentally, it is not good that the better alternative is more expensive than the worse fossil alternative.

To bring down the price, we need domestic production and other alternatives such as electric cars, says Henrik Ölvebo (MP).
