British Prime Minister Boris Johnson

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has harshly criticized anti-vaccine activists for babbling on social media.

Prime Minister Johnson visited a vaccination center on the 6th local time and said that 30-40% of inpatients are not vaccinated and it is a tragedy to talk nonsense about the vaccine outside while the medical staff is working hard.

Johnson has criticized anti-vaccine activists completely wrong and said it's time for the government to take a stand.

He said he didn't say this because he thought it was important to vaccinate voluntarily. He emphasized that the UK wants to remain voluntary, unlike European countries that are moving in the direction of forcing vaccination.

Prime Minister Johnson pulled out a card to ease testing standards the day before and encouraged vaccination on the day before as there was a growing concern that the number of people in self-quarantine due to the great spread of the Omicron mutation would cause a shortage of medical and other social services and the problem would become more serious.

Transport Minister Grant Shacks said he was trying to find a way to prevent problems with the health care system without creating new quarantine regulations.

In the UK, with 200,000 new cases of COVID-19 a day, the pressure on the medical system is rising towards a dangerous level.

Although the number of patients itself is small compared to when we went into full lockdown at the beginning of last year, the burden is not small as medical personnel are largely absent due to the omicron mutation pandemic.

Currently, absences from medical staff in England are twice as high as usual, and hospitals are canceling non-emergency surgeries and treatments.

On the other hand, the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients across the UK reached 17,276 as of the 4th, an increase of 58% from the previous week, the highest level since February last year.

The UK government announced on the 6th that there were 180,000 new cases of COVID-19.
