“In connection with a serious and immediate threat to the safety of citizens in order to ensure public safety, restore law and order, protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, introduce a state of emergency within the borders of the city of Nur-Sultan for the period from 16:00 on January 5, 2022 to 00:00 19 January 2022, ”the decree says.
For the period of the state of emergency, a curfew is imposed in the city from 23:00 to 7:00.
Earlier Tokayev introduced a state of emergency in Alma-Ata, Mangistau and Almaty regions
It was also reported that protesters in Almaty were able to break into the city hall.
