It is the now 37-year-old Virginia Giuffre who sued Prince Andrew for an unknown amount in a civil case in the USA.

According to Giuffre, as a 17-year-old she was "lent" to have sex with Prince Andrew by the prince's friend - the now dead financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre claims that the coercion was about both explicit and unspoken threats, she also says she was intimidated by the power Epstein, his girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell and the prince had.

According to Giuffre, Prince Andrew must have known that she was a minor and forced to have sex.

The prince has denied all allegations.

The prince's defense team argued that the allegations against the prince were unfounded and the case must be dropped because Virginia Giuffre is said to have waived the right to bring charges against the prince.

Privacy agreement with Epstein

On Monday, a confidentiality agreement was announced between Virginia Giuffre and Jeffrey Epstein in which Giuffre, for 4.8 million, agreed not to make accusations against Epstein or people connected to him who could be "potential defendants" in a trial.

Judge: "Later"

The judge in the case has announced that a verdict is expected "soon" - and give an answer as to whether Prince Andew is forced to testify - or if the case is closed.

Jeffrey Epstein was investigated for sexual abuse of several young girls when he committed suicide in 2019.

Epstein's girlfriend at the time of the abuse, Ghislaine Maxwell, has as recently as last week been found guilty of recruiting women who have since been sexually exploited by Epstein.
