Austrian Minister of Economy and Digitization, Dr. Margrethe Schrambock, confirmed that the UAE has long been the most important economic partner for her country in the Arab world, with more than 400 Austrian companies operating in the UAE market, and benefiting from this strategic location to serve as a major center for managing their business in the Gulf, North East Africa, and the Indian subcontinent.

She emphasized that Austrian companies have always benefited from Dubai and Abu Dhabi thanks to their primary role in the Middle East, as the trade missions and participation in the Austrian national pavilions organized by Advantage Austria in the main business events in the Emirates, the most important role for Austrian companies to showcase their products and services in this region of the world. .

Opportunity for creators

The Austrian Minister of Economy and Digitalization said that "Expo 2020 Dubai" "is a window to the world, and it is natural that the expected result of participating in this event will be to provide an opportunity for our creative companies to highlight their solutions and technologies."

She explained that "the Austrian pavilion, which follows the approach of sustainability to the maximum extent, constitutes a platform for displaying more than 50 Austrian innovations, and about 100 companies participate in the success of the Austrian participation in the exhibition.

We are very proud that our pavilion has won three international awards for its sustainable construction, and we are confident that the event will give our strong economic relations more impetus.”

Schrambock continued: “We see (Expo Dubai) as a great way to tell visitors about Austria, including its delicious cuisine, beautiful natural views, lifestyle, and our companies and inventions.

The pavilion also aims to develop new business relationships.”

She stated that Austria is classified as one of the most successful and innovative countries in the European Union, as its dynamic business sector is distinguished from others thanks to its modern infrastructure, high-quality technologies, and trained professionals who are known for their enthusiasm.

Austria is the fourth most prosperous country in the European Union and has an exceptionally high standard of living.

The minister indicated that "the volume of trade exchange between the UAE and Austria is currently about 700 million dollars, as we have witnessed a decrease due to the Corona pandemic, after the number reached about one billion dollars previously.

We are proud that Austria is among the top 10 investing countries in the UAE.”

Schrambock explained that foreign direct investments in Austria amounted to more than 163.7 billion euros at the end of 2020, and Germany accounts for the largest share of those investments, with a value of nearly 50 billion euros.

Austria achieved success as a research center and was a pioneer in the European research environment.

Research in Austria accounts for 3.23% of GDP and this percentage is among the highest in Europe, and there is also a good business environment for companies.

Based on its strategic plan "Austria 2040", it seeks to attract global companies that focus on digitization, green technologies and life sciences.

45 year old relationship

The Austrian Minister of Economy and Digitization, Dr. Margrethe Schrambück, said that “the establishment of the Austrian Trade Office in 1976, which this year celebrates the 45th anniversary of its opening in the UAE, had a clear and positive impact not only in building close economic relations, but also in strengthening relations between the two countries. In various fields, it led to the opening of the Austrian Embassy in Abu Dhabi in 2003. With the aim of strengthening our solid relations even more, the joint announcement of the establishment of an integrated strategic partnership was announced in July 2021 in Vienna.”
