In Tunisia, concerns continue around the fate of Noureddine Bhiri, this deputy who was kidnapped in front of his home on Friday, December 31.

Without news of him, the National Authority for the Prevention of Torture (INPT) is worried about practices which seem to it more and more arbitrary.

Since Friday, it's been radio silence.

The mystery remains around the disappearance of Noureddine Bhiri, MP, former Minister of Justice and vice-president of the Islamist Ennahdha party.

In the premises of the National Authority for the Prevention of Torture, Dhiaeddine Mourou, general secretary of the INPT, multiplies the interviews in which he repeats, tirelessly, not knowing much: “

Unfortunately, 48 hours after our multiple requests for information, sent to the Ministry of the Interior, we still do not know anything.

We still don't know who arrested Noureddine Bhiri.

We do not know the grounds for arrest and even the place of detention.

"

Since taking control of the country last July, Kaïs Saïed, who has assumed full powers, has not hidden his deep aversion for the Islamist party, so far the first force in the Assembly, before he do not freeze it.

While the house arrest of political figures has punctuated the last months in Tunisia, the INPT believes that a step has been taken with the Noureddine Bhiri affair.

For the INPT, this is a dangerous precedent.

We fear that this will be the beginning of an era that will free itself from any legal framework.

We warn against this risk.

I consider that these shortcomings must be put to an end immediately

 , ”added Dhiaeddine Mourou.

This affair comes a few days before the eleventh anniversary of the fall of Ben Ali, a date on which opponents of Kaïs Saïed wish to mobilize their troops to signify their rejection of what they call “

the return of the dictatorship

 ”.
