There are only two northern blunt rhinos left in the world - both are females that can not bear offspring. But with a complicated surrogate process, scientists are now trying to save the species from becoming extinct. If the process is successful, it gives hope that several species can be saved.
Rhino keeper Joseph Thuita works in the nature reserve Ol Pejeta in Kenya, where the two rhino females live.
- We see extinction every day, he says.
Now you have to plant an embryo in one of the rhinos to try to ensure the species' survival.
