British Parliament warns of the impact of masks on the mental health of students

A prominent member of the British Parliament said he feared that wearing masks in schools would harm the mental health of children, while the British government insisted that the extra precaution would help maintain the education process for pupils.

And the British news agency (PA Media) quoted Robert Halfon, chair of the Education Committee in the House of Commons, as saying that the risks posed by the Corona virus must be balanced with the risks to children’s health.

He made these statements as the government announced the temporary re-imposition of high school students to wear masks in England classes this semester.

Wes Sterling, the shadow health minister, said he would prefer students to wear masks in classes rather than stay away from schools.

"I think in terms of schools, if the choice is between masks in schools and children not attending school in large numbers, then of course we want students to remain educated," Sterling told Sky News.

This should be the priority.”
