Six people were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention as part of an investigation into the seizure of a ton of cocaine in the port of Le Havre on December 22.
This is what the Lille prosecutor's office said on Wednesday.
These people were arrested and placed in police custody, then "presented to an investigating judge of the specialized interregional jurisdiction of Lille (JIRS), during the evening of December 24," said the prosecution, confirming media information local.
Drug from Colombia
More than a ton of cocaine from Colombia was seized on December 22 by the anti-narcotics office near the port of Le Havre, in Seine-Maritime, AFP learned from a police source.
In early December, customs officials had also seized a cargo of nearly 1.5 tonnes of cocaine in a container in transit in the same port, which was not the final destination.
In France, 18 tonnes of cocaine have been seized since the start of the year against 13 tonnes in total in 2020, according to a report unveiled by the daily
