Putin grants Russian citizenship to ex-adviser to Ronald Reagan

Russian President Vladimir Putin, by special decree, granted Russian citizenship to Susan Massey, a former advisor to the 40th US President Ronald Reagan.

The decree was published on the official website of legal documents on Thursday.

Masi had approached Putin last May with a request to grant her Russian citizenship.

Susan Massey, born in 1931, is an American writer, historian, socialite, and former State Department employee.

According to "Russia Today", she worked as an advisor to former US President Ronald Reagan in 1984-1988, and played an important role in normalizing relations between Moscow and Washington and ending the Cold War, as she participated in preparing for Reagan's meetings with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in Geneva and Reykjavik in 1985 and 1986.
