Part of the Ile-de-France public transport network will operate as it does every year throughout the night of New Year's Eve despite the closure of drinking establishments at 2 a.m., we learned, this Thursday, from of the regional transport authority.

To cope with the surge in the number of Covid-19 contaminations, the Paris police headquarters decided to close all drinking establishments on Saturday and Sunday at 2 a.m. and prohibit "all dance activities in all establishments receiving public ”in the capital.

Spread the flow and avoid the car

Despite this measure, Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) has decided to maintain its traditional traffic plan for the night of New Year's Eve.

This aims to avoid concentrations of people in the same place and at the same time and thus spread the flows, explained an IDFM official.

It is also about encouraging people to return home by public transport rather than taking their car after a drunken evening.

Six of the 14 metro lines (lines 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 14) will therefore run all night, with their main stations open.

The other lines will remain open like every Friday until 2 a.m.

Lines A, B, C, D will also operate throughout the night, with all stations served for the first two.

The Transilien lines as well as the line 4 of the Tramway will be partially open.

Throughout this evening and night, transportation will be free.
