“Russia today bears responsibility, and Brussels shares responsibility for very high energy prices, for very high gas prices, for very high prices for electricity,” Moravetsky told reporters, quoted by RIA Novosti.

Russian President Vladimir Putin reminded earlier that Gazprom was not to blame for the sharp rise in gas prices in Europe.

He called the statements about this an attempt to "turn everything upside down again."

Gazprom's spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov also said that accusations against Russia and the company itself of insufficient gas supplies are groundless.

He said that the company is ready to supply additional volumes of gas within the framework of existing long-term contracts.
