The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has chosen a centenary bar in Granada, the Granados tavern, to offer this Thursday a

Christmas Message

in which he has vindicated the role of the hospitality industry during the pandemic, an economic sector that has suffered "harshly" the consequences of the Covid and that, in his words, "is knowing how to adapt to the new reality

in an exemplary way

."

Moreno's gesture in defense of Andalusian bars necessarily evokes the claim that his counterpart in Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, made of the group before and during the regional campaign, with a speech contrary to the restrictions on capacity and in favor of mobility that it contributed to launch its popularity and strengthened the success of the PP in the May elections.

In this sixth wave, the Andalusian Government also exhausts the months before the

2022 elections

and is also committed to avoiding restrictive measures, relying almost exclusively on the high percentage of vaccination of Andalusians. In fact, although Andalusia had a system of levels that allowed to

regulate the capacity

in the hotel industry according to the evolution of the pandemic, on December 17, when the rate of contagion had already accelerated vertiginously, it decided to modify the model to remove all restrictions linked to

levels 1 and 2,

which is where the eight provinces are currently located. In this way, it guaranteed a Christmas without limitations in bars, restaurants and entertainment venues, in exchange for requiring a Covid certificate to enter the establishments as the hoteliers themselves claimed.

Despite everything, from inside the Granados tavern - through which some of the most renowned artists and intellectuals from Granada such as

Manuel de Falla, Enrique Morente or Francisco Ayala

have passed at some point in its history

- the president has asked the Andalusians who do not trust. "We must continue to be prudent." "And although the high level of vaccination allows us to do things that we could not do last year, we must not trust ourselves." "Let's not get carried away by

false euphoria,

because the consequences can be very serious," he added.

Moreno recalled that he has asked the Government of Sánchez to

accelerate the vaccination plan

.

“If those who have not yet vaccinated are vaccinated, we can continue with an almost normal life that allows us to maintain economic activity.

That it also allows colleges, institutes and universities to remain open.

Let shops and factories open every day;

theaters, cinemas and museums.

May we continue to be the

desired destination for millions of tourists

and a premier center for the aeronautical industry. "

Moreno has vindicated the management of his government that, in less than three years, has opened "six new hospitals and five new health centers in Andalusia."

Although he has admitted that "it is never enough when it comes to improving public health."

And he recalled that 12,000 health workers and 7,000 backup teachers have been hired. Although, he added, "everything would be easier if the Government of Spain renewed the

Covid Fund for 2022

". I trust that it is so. Just as I trust that 2022 will bring us good news about regional financing. Andalusia must receive the same money from the State as the rest of the Spanish. It's fair, "he insisted. "Andalusia, be sure, will always remain vigilant so that no claim from anyone results in privileges for a few," he added in a brief reference to territorial tensions.

Likewise, it has vindicated the spirit of transition, dialogue and consensus.

I know

times are strange

.

You get up at 7 in the morning, turn on the news and someone is already angry.

It seems as if no one can put up with anyone, or other different ideas, "Moreno lamented, and later encouraged Andalusians to conjure up" hatred, anger and intolerance.

Moreno has had words of appreciation for health workers, but also for other groups such as

farmers and fishermen,

security forces and bodies, transporters, teachers, ranchers, computer scientists, informants "and many other professionals", "who have given their best ».

And he recalled that in 2022 there will be

regional elections

, but has insisted on his intention that these be held "as late as possible", "because every day is important in the economic and social recovery": "The time remaining until the elections We are not going to sit idly by ».
