Japanese media reported today that the Japanese government protested the South Korean military's Dokdo defense exercise.

According to Kyodo News and NHK, Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it had strongly protested against the South Korean government, saying, "(Dokdo defense training) is absolutely unacceptable and very regrettable."

Last week, the South Korean military conducted a private Dokdo defense exercise called 'East Sea Territory Defense Training' by deploying naval, coast guard ships, and air force in the waters near Dokdo last week.

The Japanese government, claiming sovereignty over Dokdo, is protesting and demanding a halt to the Dokdo defense drills conducted by the South Korean military twice a year.
