Kristin Livdahl and her twins spent a rainy afternoon at home in Minnesota performing various challenges they found on Youtube.

The 10-year-old daughter wanted to do another challenge and then asked for the family's smart speakers.

The speaker then suggested "the penny challenge", a challenge that involves stopping a phone charger halfway into the electrical outlet and then touching the pins with a coin.

- I heard when the speaker read out the challenge and shouted "No Alexa no!"

as if it were a dog, says Kristin Livdahl.

Immediately afterwards, Kristin Livdahl contacted the manufacturer Amazon and also wrote a post on Twitter to inform others.

Amazon announces that they fixed the error as soon as they heard about what happened.

Kristin has also tried to ask the speaker the same question again, but this time without result.

Firefighters warn

Many metals conduct electricity and plugging metal into live sockets can cause severe shock and fire.

When the challenge circulated most on social media a year ago, firefighters issued warnings, writes the BBC.

Kristin's post on Twitter has been widely circulated but also opened up a conversation with the children about safety.

- My daughter said that she was too smart to actually do as the speaker said, but it led to a good discussion about security on the internet and to be careful to always check information.
