After the end of their match in the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, on December 17, OL was sanctioned with a defeat on the green carpet, like Paris FC (L2), with a fine of 52,000 euros, a closure of its visitors area until the end of the season and an exclusion from competition of the Coupe de France from the 2022-2023 season suspended, revoked in the event of a repeat offense.
"OL once again condemn any form of violence in the stadiums and had expressed its willingness to assume its responsibilities, without seeking any excuse for the intolerable violence of certain individuals," said a statement released Tuesday evening.
The Rhone club "relies on groups of supporters who must also take their responsibilities to eradicate all violence from the stands and control their members so as not to penalize the OL institution sportingly and economically".
The Olympique Lyonnais declares, moreover, "to continue its work of identifying the people involved in the incidents" which occurred at the Charléty stadium in Paris.
"Four nominative complaints, accompanied by commercial stadium bans, have been filed. They target both individual supporters and group leaders. Other complaints will follow and OL will show the greatest firmness," further details the club press release.
He hopes "that the investigators and justice will help him in the identification of the culprits but also by pronouncing heavy sanctions against all the hooligans involved, of Paris as of Lyon".
Lyon, only 13th in Ligue 1 but qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League, has already been penalized by the withdrawal of a point in the league for the incidents which occurred at the start of the Lyon-Marseille match on November 21, during which Dimitri Payet had received a bottle of water on the face while preparing to take a corner.
OL-OM must be replayed behind closed doors on a date to be determined but this incident involves economic consequences for OL for an amount of approximately 3.5 million euros.
