[Explanation] On December 26, the Institute of Communication and Frontier Governance of Jinan University and the School of Journalism and Communication of Jinan University jointly issued an independent research report in Guangzhou, "Hindering Transactions, Increasing Costs and Destroying the Industry Chain-The Impact of U.S. Xinjiang Sanctions on the Global Cotton Industry Chain Influence".

[Explanation] According to reports, the research team conducted surveys in 17 counties and cities in Aksu, Kashgar, and Guangdong Province for more than 3 months. The survey subjects exceeded 70 people, including different types of cotton growers in various regions, different scales, and The person in charge of the category of cotton textile and garment enterprises.

On this basis, the research report was completed.

[Concurrent] Li Hua, the main writer of the report

Starting from the cotton planting link, this mechanized operation is almost 100%, and then in the cotton management link, that is, the link of spraying medicine and fertilizer, etc., drones have been adopted on a large scale.

Then we saw the UAV plant protection in Xinjiang, its operating area has exceeded 20 million mu, and only in cotton topping and cotton weeding, a light labor link, we need to use this labor. However, we have also seen in our research that the employment contract issued to us by this cotton grower is very standard and clear. The rights and interests of its practical workers are protected by law. The last link is the picking link. The operating rate of picking machinery in Xinjiang has reached 85%, and this value is also rising.

[Explanation] The report believes that China's cotton industry has become the central link of the global cotton industry chain by virtue of high-quality cotton raw materials and a complete supply chain network.

Therefore, destroying China's cotton industry is tantamount to destroying the global cotton industry chain.

Numerous facts have proved that the U.S. Xinjiang cotton sanctions have dealt a blow to all links in the global cotton industry chain.

The report also pointed out that the U.S. Xinjiang-related sanctions did not have a significant impact on China's domestic cotton spinning manufacturing links.

[Concurrent] Li Hua, the main writer of the report

Our cotton growers have not felt the impact of the US sanctions. For example, if we look at the picture on the left, in the past so many years, the number of cotton-related companies in Xinjiang has been increasing, and the increase in such companies will continue. From the raw materials produced by cotton farmers, we can see that cooperatives are also springing up like bamboo shoots after a rain. They provide cotton growers with agricultural insurance services, production technical services, and even market docking services. Under the escort of many parties, our cotton growers have not felt the impact of sanctions, and they also hope to further expand production.

[Explanation] The report pointed out that in the capitalist global economic system headed by the United States, Chinese cotton textile and garment enterprises are actually being "forced labor" by the Western capitalist globalization system, and China is the one being exploited.

Therefore, the US sanctions on Xinjiang cotton are "false justice."

The sanctions not only harmed the interests of all countries in the global cotton industry chain, but also under the chain reaction of the sanctions, American companies and people bear high economic costs for this.

[Concurrent] Zheng Liang, Dean of the Institute of Communication and Frontier Governance, Jinan University

This Xinjiang-related sanctions of the United States, especially those based on cotton, is a serious interference and damage to the global cotton industry chain. It not only increases costs in all aspects, but also for many companies, such as To say that American companies are forced to move to Southeast Asia and to abandon the Chinese market is a major loss to the company. However, American companies cannot tell because the sanctions imposed by the United States are in the form of its domestic laws, so American companies Can only be withdrawn.

What’s more important is that we have discovered that in this global industrial chain, China’s profits are actually very low. Therefore, in this US-led capitalist global economic system, Chinese companies are actually forced to labor and are exploited. It’s not that China’s forced labor of ethnic minorities as the United States said, because in this system, Western companies headed by the United States have already taken a huge portion of their head profits, while Chinese companies can only get a very low percentage. One to three profit.

Even so, if you still have to be labeled as forced labor, this is morally untenable and unfair. (In the United States) it is a good deal.
