“Moscow welcomes the readiness of Tiraspol to begin an interested discussion of ways to bring the banks of the Dniester closer together and resume negotiations in the 5 + 2 format,” the statement on the website of the foreign ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that the negotiations can give impetus to the process of the Transnistrian settlement, which is in a state of stagnation.

“For its part, the Russian Federation, as a mediator and guarantor in the process of the Transnistrian settlement, is ready to assist this,” the ministry added.

Earlier, the Head of Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky said that the Moldovan authorities are not interested in negotiations with Tiraspol in the "5 + 2" format.
