The court must decide who has the right to use the place name.

Is it Arla that has registered different variants of "Boxholms xx" as a trademark?

Is it Glada bonden who has now started making cheese in Boxholm?

Or can both use the place name on the product?

For Arla, the answer is obvious:

- It is we who have invested in the brand and we who have marketed it, says Erik Bratthall who is press manager at Arla.

For many of those who live in Boxholm, the answer is just as obvious:

- I think they should stop calling the cheese Boxholm when it is made in Östersund, says former municipal councilor Johan Birath who has been active in the fight to keep the cheese in Boxholm.

Recently, the Patent and Market Court made a temporary decision pending a ruling which means that the new producer, in Boxholm, may not use the name "Genuine Boxholm" on his cheeses.

SPECIAL: When the local cheese from Boxholm started to be produced in Östersund, the inhabitants of the small municipality took up the fight for their place name.
