Swedish rap is a natural feature on the top lists on Spotify and has become an industry that generates millions of kronor.

It has therefore also attracted many young people to start rapping.

At the same time, there is a debate about the style of music, and especially gangster rap.

What is discussed is, among other things, the romanticization of crime in the texts and what impact it has on young people.

- Some romanticize, some do not, I believe more that it is stories.

What we rap about can affect young people, but what we rap about is still a few meters away from them, says the gangster rapper "9iaz".

Growing up in a vulnerable area

Niaz Bajrami grew up on Dalaberg in Uddevalla, in one of what the police classify as vulnerable areas.

He is 20 years old and has been involved in music since he was ten.

- I love making music and right now it is this genre that sells, precisely because many can relate to it, says the rap artist.

The crime in the texts

According to him, he has seen weapons and drugs around him during his upbringing.

- If you want to start a criminal career, you will do it regardless of whether there is someone who raps about it or not.
