December 24, 2021About 100 homes were evacuated in the San Francisco Bay Area after a tanker overturned and ran out of gas. Photos from the incident, which took place in Fremont, California, show the upturned tanker, which appears to have crashed into a wall along Interstate 680.

According to the Fremont Fire Department, the northbound lanes of the freeway should remain closed for hours as crews work to load the remaining fuel onto another tanker and lift the overturned one.

The houses were evacuated due to the smell of gas and the residents were sheltered. There are currently no reports of injuries. The incident occurred in the East Bay region about 30 miles south of Oakland.
