Benin: new attack in the north-west of the country

A new attack perpetrated in northwestern Benin near the Burkina Faso border on Wednesday, December 22.

It is a position of the Beninese armed forces that has been attacked.

This is the third attack to have occurred during the month of December in this region of northwestern Benin.

There are victims on both sides.

Authorized Beninese sources confirm this new attack, it would have taken place yesterday Wednesday late afternoon around 5 p.m. 

It is a position of the Beninese armed forces on the border with Burkina Faso which was attacked by an armed group.

And the nearest town in the area is Tanguiéta, 600 km north of Cotonou.

Appraisal: one dead and two wounded on the side of the Beninese armed forces.

Wounded whose condition is said to be stable.

Side attackers: two dead.

Until early afternoon, we were down to one assailant killed.

The second victim would be a body found during the search, again according to the Beninese. 

Several people report that the perpetrators of the attack would have killed possible injuries. 

 No movement has yet claimed responsibility for the incident and the Beninese do not say who is attacking them.

Neither the army nor the government communicated on this third attack, there were two in early December.

A sweep is underway in the area.
