The Ministry of Education announced the hosting of the International Chemistry Olympiad 2025 in the UAE, during the closing ceremony of the 18th International Junior Science Olympiad, which was recently hosted by the country in Dubai, in which UAE students won six bronze medals.

The Ministry confirmed that the six bronze medals won by the UAE in the International Junior Science Olympiad represent an honorable and important achievement in culmination of the efforts made in preparing and arranging students before their participation in the current edition of the Olympiad, which focuses on basic sciences, namely physics, chemistry and biology, which are the areas it focuses on. The state to prepare a generation of future scientists to contribute to achieving its vision of creating a knowledge society and digital economy.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Al-Mualla, said that the International Science Olympiad competitions have an active role in the comprehensive development of the scientific community among students and academics, as the most exceptional scientific talents of students meet and share their ideas and experiences.

He stressed that the ministry applied the highest standards in the implementation of this Olympiad, and helped participants in various countries of the world to apply the knowledge they acquired in the three branches of science, namely physics, chemistry and biology, including higher-order thinking skills, problem solving, research and verification in an integrated manner in line with the state's direction to achieve its vision. In innovative education for a leading global knowledge society, as is in line with the UAE Centennial 2071 and the UAE’s vision and strategy for the next 50 years.

For her part, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Care and Capacity Building Sector, Dr. Amna Al Dahak Al Shamsi, announced that the UAE won the bid to host the International Chemistry Olympiad in 2025, which enhances the country’s distinguished position and its leadership in hosting international events in various fields and brilliant minds in basic sciences, in addition to the national achievements that The Ministry achieved it by hosting the largest scientific events in the world, after hosting the International Olympiad for Science at this exceptional time, which the Ministry worked on for its success and distinction with this large participation of students and countries.

She stressed that hosting the International Junior Olympiad highlights the critical importance of natural sciences and attracts students to develop the same passion for science and scientific discoveries around the world, as we were pleased to receive these students virtually and in presence to enhance cooperation between peoples, which contributes to achieving the UAE vision of creating a knowledge society.

Vietnam was the best winner in theoretical tests, China was the best winner in all tests, South Korea was the best winner in practical laboratory tests with the silver medal, Germany was the best winner in practical tests with the gold medal, and Slovakia was the best team in practical laboratory tests with the bronze medal.

Russia, India and China won six golds for each team, Australia six silver medals, and Lithuania six bronze medals. Winners of students and teams were announced with different medals during the ceremony.
