The Turkish government has announced that the new domestic coronavirus vaccine has been approved for emergency use, and will start vaccination in the country as well as provide it to African regions where the vaccine is in short supply.

On the 22nd, the Turkish government announced that a committee under the health authorities has approved emergency use of the new coronavirus vaccine "Turkey Waku," which was developed for the first time in the country.

We are planning to start vaccination in Japan next week.

President Erdogan also said at a summit meeting between Turkey and African countries in Istanbul this month that he "plans to provide 15 million doses of vaccine", and the spread of vaccines has been delayed in Africa. The policy is to utilize it for "vaccine diplomacy" to each country.

"Turkish Waku" is a type of "inactivated vaccine" that is made by processing a virus to eliminate its toxicity, and has been jointly developed by Turkish universities and research institutes.

The head of development told local media on the 19th that there were no cases of severe illness in vaccinated people in clinical trials so far, and positive results were obtained.

In Turkey, 82% of vaccinated people over the age of 18 have already completed the second vaccination, but the number of infected people per day is still around 20,000.
