According to Garro, Dalli's recommendations can be interpreted as "a form of social revisionism that challenges the image that most Europeans live up to."

In this regard, the deputy decided to find out the opinion of the European Commission on whether these innovations contribute to universal equality in the EU.

"Is the EC of the opinion that Christmas should no longer be part of our cultural heritage and European way of life?"

- also asked Garro.

In late October, Dalli presented draft guidelines for communication between officials in the performance of their duties.

Among other things, the document proposed to abandon the address "ladies and gentlemen" in favor of a more neutral "dear colleagues".

In addition, the authors of the document considered the expression "colonization of Mars" ambiguous.

In their opinion, the option "sending human beings to Mars" would be more appropriate.

Also, they considered the word "Christmas" to be insufficiently consistent with modern realities, which they proposed to replace with the neutral phrase "holidays".

After the publication of a number of media outlets, the content of the document caused a wide public response.

Against this background, Dalli announced on Twitter that the recommendations will soon be finalized.
