(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) Qin Gang: Ensuring adequate vaccine supply and fair distribution is a top priority

China News Agency, Washington, December 21. Qin Gang, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, stated in Washington on the 21st that the current Omi Keron mutant strain is spreading rapidly around the world, and the situation in countries fighting the epidemic is very severe.

Ensuring an adequate supply of vaccines and fair distribution is a top priority.

U.S. Secretary of State Brinken hosted a video conference on the response to the mutated virus Ome Keron on the same day. Many foreign ministers and heads of regional organizations attended the meeting to discuss the global impact and response of the mutated virus Ome Keron.

Qin Gang attended and spoke at the meeting as the representative of China's State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Qin Gang said that the current Omi Keron mutant strain is spreading rapidly around the world, and the situation in countries fighting the epidemic is very severe.

Ensuring an adequate supply of vaccines and fair distribution is a top priority.

China has been actively promoting the new crown vaccine as a global public product.

Up to now, China has provided nearly 2 billion doses of vaccines to more than 120 countries and international organizations, becoming the country that provides the most vaccines to the world.

Most of the vaccines obtained so far in developing countries come from China.

President Xi Jinping announced not long ago that China will donate 100 million doses of vaccine to developing countries free of charge on the basis of donating 100 million U.S. dollars to the "New Crown Vaccine Implementation Plan".

China will also provide another 1 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Africa.

At present, 5.6 billion doses of vaccines have been vaccinated in the world, with the exception of China, and China has provided one-third of them.

Qin Gang said that the international community must persist in cooperating to fight the epidemic and overcome the difficulties together.

We must oppose false information about the epidemic and vaccine discrimination, and increase the vaccination rate.

Large countries must take the responsibility and take the lead in accelerating the provision of vaccines to low- and middle-income countries and helping them cultivate production capacity.

China is willing to continue to work with the international community to unswervingly advance international cooperation in the fight against the epidemic, bridge the global "immunization gap", and jointly promote the building of a human health community.

Qin Gang said that the spread of Omi Keron mutant strains brought new challenges to the Beijing Winter Olympics.

China will take more effective measures to protect athletes and guests from all over the world.

We are confident and capable of hosting a simple, safe and exciting Winter Olympics.
