At a meeting in the US administration, officials will discuss "urgent export controls that could cut off Russia's access to a wide range of industrial and consumer technologies," Reuters reports, citing a White House source.
It is noted that the new restrictive measures may affect the import of smartphones to Russia, basic spare parts for aircraft and cars, as well as materials from other sectors.
“The potential measures will be unprecedented in Russia,” the source added.
A senior US administration official previously spoke about possible measures against Russia in Ukraine.
According to him, the President of the United States Joe Biden made it clear that the American side is seeking a strong set of economic sanctions.
