It was a passing exerciser who called Elisabet Heikki when she was sitting and watching TV with her husband.

The friend warned the couple about what was going on outside, and when they came out they were struck by the sound of the "river" which was now rushing just outside their house.

- It was a horrible sight, says Elisabet Heikki.

Elisabet and her husband were forced to flee the home and for a week they have lived at a campsite nearby.

Now they have returned home to celebrate Christmas and have been visited by their daughter and family.

Road excavated

The road to the north is still excavated to relieve the water flow, which may have saved the house.

Outside the home, machines that work with managing the water masses constantly pass by.

Although there is plenty of water outside the house, it is not restored to the house and Christmas will be celebrated without running drinking water and the toilet.
