“There are no necessary circumstances that can explain the deployment of additional troops on our territory,” Yanev’s statement was quoted by TASS.

He said that at the moment NATO is planning various options for responding to an increase in Russian military potential, including the deployment of additional troops in Bulgaria and Romania.

Yanev expressed the opinion that this discussion could lead to an undesirable increase in tension in the region.

“At this stage, there is no reason to consider the observed processes as a real threat to the alliance and its security zone,” he concluded.

Earlier, American General Tod Walters proposed NATO to expand the military presence of the alliance on the eastern flank - we are talking about Bulgaria and Romania.
