December 20, 2021 He killed himself by throwing himself into the void. Sandro Sarais, 56, was arrested a week ago on charges of killing his partner, Mihaela Kleics, 50 years old of Romanian origin. The man, who was guarded by two officers, managed to free himself and despite the last attempt to stop him, he threw himself from the room on the third floor of the thoracic surgery department. Sarais was immediately rescued and then intubated in an attempt to save his life but passed away after about half an hour.



The man was hospitalized because he had already tried to take his own life immediately after the arrest, inflicting a few stabs. The murder of his partner dates back to 13 December: the woman was found lifeless in her apartment in Quartu Sant'Elena, in the metropolitan city of Cagliari. The suspects of the investigators had immediately fallen on the comrade. They often quarreled - so the neighbors reported - Sarais had been tracked down by the Carabinieri in the countryside of Castiadas but at the sight of the police he had stabbed himself, resulting in some wounds. For this he was transferred to the hospital where he committed suicide today.



The admission of the crime at the time of arrest


Before the judge of the preliminary investigations he had made use of the right not to answer.

The validation hearing was held in the Businco hospital in Cagliari, where he was hospitalized.

When he was stopped, in front of the public prosecutor Nicoletta Mari and the Carabinieri, he had instead admitted to being the perpetrator of the femicide.



Killed with 35 stab wounds


Sarais's partner was found dead in her home: the wounds caused by 35 stab wounds on the body.

He had lived in an attic on the third floor for about a year.

The alarm was raised by her sister, who lives in Romania: "I haven't heard from her for three days", this is the Sos she had launched at the Quartu carabinieri who later made the macabre discovery.
