Tuesday, the first SMS in history will be sold at an auction in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

The intangible object will be sold using NFT technology, a kind of certificate of authenticity and digital property.

The sale price is estimated between 100,000 and 200,000 euros.

Tuesday, December 21, a completely original auction will take place in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

The object in question that will be sold is in fact not an object ... but an SMS.

The SMS in question, "Merry Christmas", was sent on December 3, 1992. It is offered for sale by the mobile operator Vodafone, which used NFT technology (non-fungible token) to sell this object which has no material reality.

A price between 100,000 and 200,000 euros

It will not be possible for the buyer to receive the famous SMS in question. The lucky winner of the auction will be presented with a certificate of ownership in the form of a digital token - this is called NFT. A great first for Maximilien Aguttes, the company's development manager in charge of sales: "We also organize jewelry sales, watch sales, car sales. Our lives are increasingly digital and therefore this NFT technology also makes it possible to make certain elements unique. So, it is very interesting ".

To materialize this SMS in the real world, its future owner will be given a digital frame.

A very real, tangible object.

Because in France, it is not possible to sell an entirely intangible good at auction.

The low estimate for the 15 characters of this "Merry Christmas" is 100,000 euros.
