"This standard establishes general requirements for the organization and conduct of a set of measures for the burial of the corpses of people and animals killed during military conflicts or as a result of these conflicts, as well as, if necessary, as a result of emergencies in peacetime," the text of the document says.

GOST is published on the official website of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

The standards were developed by the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergencies of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

The new rules will come into force on February 1, 2022.

According to GOST, when choosing places of burial, one should take into account the rules of urban development, the distance to residential buildings, the features of the relief and the slope of the terrain.

When burying in mass graves, it is necessary to observe the horizontal distance between the coffins - it must be at least half a meter and filled with a layer of earth and brushwood.

The burial of those who died from especially dangerous infections should be carried out in galvanized, sealed coffins.

More details on the provisions of GOST can be found on the agency's website.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova called on Ukraine to stop the blasphemous practice in relation to the burials of Soviet soldiers on Ukrainian territory.

She noted that such actions are carried out in violation of international obligations and norms of national legislation on the protection and preservation of military memorials.
